History of Jazz Appreciation Month: Jazz Appreciation Month began in 2001, initiated by the National Museum of American History to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz.
April was chosen as the month for this celebration to coincide with the birthdays of jazz legends such as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Tito Puente, among others. Since then, Jazz Appreciation Month has grown into a global celebration, highlighting the significance of jazz as an art form and its enduring impact on the world of music.
